Two decades after the Beaune meeting in 1998, the 14th European Hip Society International Congress is back to France and will take place in the prestigious city of Lille, with "new clothes" in 2021… If crises make things happen, the least we can say is that this pandemic have taught us at least to explore other avenues in education, knowledge, and exchanges within our orthopedic community. "Virtual" congresses, in part or in full, have often replaced the traditional "face-to-face" congresses with great success, such as EFORT, which successfully provided "virtual" access to nearly 3000 attendees, or the recent excellent e-meeting organized by EHS in Thessaloniki last December a few weeks ago…
This new channel of exchanges between orthopedic colleagues has also further improved the recognition of our EHS as a benchmark for hip surgery in Europe… as evidenced by our participation as co-organizer or guest for various congresses, be they "presential" or "hybrid" ones… This hybrid format will surely get chosen for our next Lille meeting in Lille, depending on the evolution of this sanitary crisis. Anyway, we will make us able to meet all your expectations for a superb, innovative and fruitful congress! Thanks again to "Hip Toulouse" and Canada to join us again in this great event…
We launch again today our congress website, in order to be in touch with each of you and provide useful and practical pieces of information about its organization. The program will include the prescribed agenda, and the abstracts already submitted will be considered. From now on, authors will be invited to either leave their initial abstract as is, or modify or update them if necessary, or resubmit new abstracts, with a deadline of next mid-February... Let’s meet soon on the EHS Lille2021 web site!
Warmest regards on behalf of the entire EHS Board,
Jean-Alain Epinette, MD
President EHS 2008-2011
